Meet Our October/November 2025 Artists in the Spotlight
We have artists sharing the Spotlight this time! We would like to introduce Denise Mitchell & Patt Bennett!
Artist Statement — Denise Mitchell
Denise Mitchell would like to thank you for taking the time to view this exhibit of her work.
She lives in Caseville and has a deep love for painting. Her artistic mediums include oil paint, acrylic paint, and pastel.
The subjects that primarily interest her are the figure, portrait, and, more recently, landscape plein air (painting outdoors). Landscape painting allows her to focus on the beauty of nature — its colors, light, patterns, and rhythm. Her figure work explores character, tension, mood, and the play of light and dark.
Denise’s artistic education has evolved over the years through courses at the Center for Creative Studies, the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center, and the Paint Creek Center for the Arts.
Since her retirement from Ford, she has found great pleasure in exploring and experimenting to further develop her artistic style. Denise is also a member of the Thumb Area Plein-Air Painters group on Facebook and invites others to join.

An eclectic gathering of Art by - Patt Bennett
“As a lifelong facilitator of the Arts, her free-spirited nature led her from the Detroit area to Northern Michigan where she was Gallery Manager of the ArtCenter Traverse City.”
This month, Patt is pleased to share an eclectic collection of her work, splashing paint wherever she goes — from Michigan to New Mexico, Arizona, Mexico, Oregon, and her home studio.
She has currently settled in Caseville, where she continues to enjoy the Bay and Lake Huron. During the summer months, she can often be found at various outdoor locations, creating artworks en plein air with the group known as TAPP (Thumb Area PleinAire Painters).
She has had the pleasure and opportunity to create in diverse environments alongside people from all walks of life. As a full-time artist and painter, she delights in sharing the joy of paint and color, with the intention of creating works that draw viewers in, pull them closer, and surprise them. Her work is whimsical and bright, characterized by a high-key palette. She offers only original works of art — no giclée prints.
